How to Install CyberPanel
This guide explains how to install CyberPanel, a free control panel, on a freshly installed server. CyberPanel uses OpenLiteSpeed as its web server; you can manage your websites, email, DNS records and SSL certificates from one screen.
Before you start
- Fresh install: CyberPanel is installed on a freshly installed operating system.
- root user: you need to run the installation directly as root; an installation started with
sudodoes not complete. If you connected as another user, switch to root first withsudo su -. - Requirements: at least 1 GB of memory (RAM) and 10 GB of free disk space.
Supported operating systems
At Verinomi you can select CyberPanel for VDS servers running AlmaLinux 8, 9 and 10 or Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04. CyberPanel's installer does not support Debian.
1. Update the system
On AlmaLinux:
dnf -y update
On Ubuntu:
apt update && apt -y upgrade
If the kernel was updated, we recommend rebooting the server before you start the installation.
2. Install CyberPanel
sh <(curl https://cyberpanel.net/install.sh || wget -O - https://cyberpanel.net/install.sh)
The installer asks you the following, in order:
- Edition: CyberPanel with the free OpenLiteSpeed, or CyberPanel Enterprise with LiteSpeed Enterprise. If you do not have a LiteSpeed license, choose CyberPanel (OpenLiteSpeed). The Enterprise edition asks for a LiteSpeed serial number.
- Full Service: a full installation with PowerDNS, Postfix and Pure-FTPd (default: yes). Say yes if you will use DNS, email and FTP.
- Remote MySQL: yes if you will keep the database on another server (default: no).
- CyberPanel version: the latest version is installed by default.
- Administrator password: the default password is
1234567; do not use it. Typesto set your own password orrfor a random one. - Memcached, Redis and Watchdog: installed by default; for most servers you can accept the defaults.
Once the questions are answered, the installation starts by itself and usually takes 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the server's speed.
3. Save the installation details
When the installation finishes, the screen shows important details such as the panel address and login information. Copy them and keep them somewhere safe.
4. First login
Open your server's IP address with port 8090 in your browser:
https://203.0.113.10:8090
The username is admin and the password is the one you set during installation. Your browser may show a security warning on the first login; if you are sure you are connecting to your own server's address, you can continue.
On the first login, CyberPanel asks you to set the hostname with a setup wizard. The name you enter must resolve to your server's IP address in DNS and must also be set as the reverse record (rDNS) of your IP address; otherwise CyberPanel shows an error and does not continue. You can edit the reverse record in your client area.
Resetting the administrator password
If you forget the admin user's password, you can set a new one over SSH with:
adminPass YourNewPassword
Port used
The CyberPanel administration interface uses port 8090. If your server has a firewall, make sure this port is open.
