What Is the Inode Limit?

Print

Inode limit

An inode (index node) holds the metadata of a file, such as its structure and size. On Linux, every file is represented by an inode, so the inode count is the number of files in your account. Each file in your hosting account (an email, an image and so on) counts as one inode, and the total of all files in your account is your inode count.

How can I reduce my inode count?

Removing files you no longer need is enough to bring the inode count down.

Inode information in cPanel

You can find it in the Statistics section of the cPanel main menu.
