Verinomi Panel: Changing Your Password and Forgotten Password
This article explains how to change your password in the client area, and how to reset it by email or with your mobile phone if you forget it.
Changing your password
- Open the Account > Password page from the left menu.
- Enter your current password in the Existing Password field.
- Enter your new password in the New Password and Confirm New Password fields. The bar below the field shows the password strength: red means weak, yellow medium and green strong. With the Generate Password button you can create a random strong password between 8 and 64 characters.
- Click Save Changes. If the two fields do not match, the button stays disabled.
When your password changes, a "your account password has been changed" SMS is sent to the mobile number on your account, and the change is recorded in your activity history. If you did not make this change, you can reset your password right away and open a support ticket.
For a strong password
- We recommend using at least 12 characters.
- Mix upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols (such as # $ ! % &).
- Do not reuse a password you use on other sites.
- Avoid guessable information such as your name, date of birth or domain name.
If you turn on two-step verification in addition to your password, no one can get into your account even if your password falls into someone else's hands; see Two-Step Verification (SMS and Authenticator App) for details.
Forgot your password: resetting by email
- On the login page, click the Forgot your password? link next to the password field.
- Enter the email address you signed up with and click Send reset link.
- Within a few minutes you will receive an email with the subject "Your password reset link"; if it does not arrive, please check your spam folder too. Click the Set a new password button in the email. The link is valid for a short time and can be used only once.
- On the page that opens, enter your new password twice and save it. You can then log in with your new password.
For security reasons, the same message is shown even if the address you entered does not match an account. You need to be logged out of the client area to start a password reset. Once your password has been changed, you will receive a "Your password has been changed" email and an SMS notification.
Forgot your password: resetting with your mobile phone
If you cannot reach your email and your account has a verified mobile number, you can reset your password with your phone. Click the reset by mobile phone link on the password reset page:
- Enter your account's email address and mobile number (05xx xxx xx xx), then click Send code.
- If the details match our records, a 6-digit code is sent to your number. The code is valid for 5 minutes.
- Enter the code and click Verify and continue; you will be taken to the page where you can set your new password.
For this to work:
- You need to be the account owner (users invited to the account can reset by email).
- The number must be verified on your account (Account > Security) and must not have been changed in the last few days; after a number change, this option is closed for a while for your security.
- Two-step verification must not be on with the SMS method. If you use the SMS method, you can reset your password by email; this way your password and your login code are not tied to the same phone.
For security reasons, the same message is shown even if the details do not match; if no code arrives, the details may not match, and you can try resetting by email. A code can be requested at most 6 times per hour from one IP address.
When a phone reset starts, a notice with the subject "Your password is being reset by mobile phone" is sent to your account's email address. If you did not do this, reset your password right away with the link in the email and open a support ticket; your phone line may have been cloned. If two-step verification is on, you will still be asked for a code when you log in with your new password.
If you cannot log in
If you can reach neither your email nor your phone, you can leave your details with the Let us call you link on the login page; our team will verify your identity and help you.
