Verinomi Panel: Managing Your Domains

Print

You can manage your domains' renewal dates, nameservers, transfer lock and contact details from the client area. This article covers the domain list, the settings on the domain page, renewals and transfers.

My domains

Open Domains > My domains from the left menu. The list is sorted so that the domain expiring soonest is at the top; you can click a column heading to sort by another column. Each row shows the days left, the renewal date, the status and two switches:

  • Auto-renew: you can turn this on or off. You are asked to confirm before turning it off, because no renewal receipt is created while it is off.
  • Pay from credit: decides whether the renewal receipt is paid from your credit. See Automatic Payment from Credit for details. If auto-renew is off, no receipt will be created, so this switch is not shown.

The Renew button on the row lets you extend a domain at any time before it expires, and Manage opens the domain page.

My domains page

The boxes above the list group your domains: Total domains, Active, Expiring soon (30 days or less left), Auto-renew on / off, Expired, Pending and Cancelled or moved. Click a box to filter the list to that group. You can remove the filter with Show all.

If you have a domain that expires within 30 days or has already expired, a notice appears at the top of the page and of the client area home page; you can go straight to the renewal page with the Renew link.

Bulk actions

The bulk actions bar appears when you tick domains in the list. With its buttons you can do the following for several domains at once (selections on other pages are included):

My domains: bulk actions bar after selecting

  • Manage Nameservers: set our default nameservers or your own nameservers (up to 5)
  • Edit Contact Information
  • Renew Domains
  • Add to cart: adds the selected domains to your cart as 1-year renewals without leaving the page; you can change the period in the cart.
  • Auto-renewal: choose Turn on or Turn off from the menu. You are asked to confirm before turning it off.
  • Pay from credit: choose Turn on or Turn off from the menu. Domains that will not get a receipt are skipped, and the page shows how many records were changed.
  • Transfer lock on or off
  • Transfer to another account: takes the domains you ticked (up to 50) to the internal transfer page; see the Internal Transfer (Moving Services and Domains to Another Account) article for details.

Domain page

Click the Manage button on a domain's row to open its domain page. The boxes at the top show the Expiry date (with the number of days left), Auto-renewal, Transfer lock and Renewal price. If there is an unpaid receipt, a Pay Receipt button appears. If the transfer lock is off, a notice appears at the top of the page.

The links in the Manage section take you to the following settings (some depend on the domain's extension and on the domain being active):

Nameservers

The Nameservers section has two options:

  • Use default nameservers: the domain points to our servers. This is the right choice if your hosting is with us.
  • Use custom nameservers: you can enter at least two and up to five nameservers (for example: ns1.example.com).

The change is applied when you click Save. It can take up to 24 hours for the change to be visible everywhere.

Transfer lock

While the lock is on, your domain cannot be moved to another provider without your permission. If you are not planning to move the domain, we recommend keeping it locked. When you click Remove the lock, you will first be asked for a confirmation code for your security (see the "Verify it is you" section below). Once the code is verified, you return to the domain page; click the button again to remove the lock. To lock the domain again, just use Lock the domain; no code is needed for this.

Transfer code (EPP)

You need a transfer code to move your domain to another provider. When you click the Transfer code (EPP) link, you are first asked for a confirmation code; once it is verified, the transfer code page opens. Depending on the extension, the code is either shown on screen or sent to the e-mail address in the domain's WHOIS details. Viewing the transfer code is recorded in your activity history.

Contact (WHOIS) details

You can update the domain's registrant and contact details here. You can use the default details on your account or details specific to the domain. Keeping these details up to date helps you avoid problems with the ownership of your domain. For some extensions, a change may start a contact verification process; in that case you will receive an information e-mail.

Auto-renewal

While auto-renewal is on, a renewal receipt is created automatically before the expiry date; once you pay the receipt, your domain is extended. Auto-renewal does not take payment from your card automatically; it only creates the receipt. While it is off, no receipt is created and you need to renew the domain yourself before it expires.

Private Nameservers

You can create a nameserver on your own domain (e.g. ns1.yourdomain.com), change its IP address or delete it.

Parking page and DNS management

If you are not using your domain yet, you can open a free "Coming soon" or "For sale" page from the Parking Page tab. You can edit the records of a domain on our parking servers from the DNS Management tab. See Free Parking Page and DNS Management for details.

DNSSEC

If the extension supports it, a DNSSEC tab appears on the domain page; when there are many tabs, you can find it under More settings. You can see your domain's DS records here; if there are none, DNSSEC is off.

To add a record, fill in Key Tag, Algorithm, Digest type and Digest with the values from your DNS provider, then click Add DS record. A wrong DS record can make your domain unreachable; if you are not sure, you can open a support ticket.

WHOIS Privacy

WHOIS privacy is free. For .tr domains, you can choose on the WHOIS Privacy tab which details are hidden in WHOIS lookups; for other extensions, you can turn it on with Turn on for free on the same tab and off with Turn off. The details you tick among Name / Title, Address, Email, Phone and Fax are hidden; those you untick are visible in WHOIS records. You can save your choice with Save changes.

  • Individual registrations: name, address, phone and email are hidden.
  • Corporate registrations: the company name stays visible; address, phone and email are hidden.

Verify it is you

Getting the transfer code and removing the transfer lock (one by one or in bulk) are actions that can lead to the domain being moved to another provider. They are also the first things someone would try if they got into your account. That is why the Verify it is you page opens before these actions:

  1. Click the Send code button. The code is sent only by SMS to the mobile number on your account; the page shows your number partly masked. No code is sent to your e-mail address.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code and click Verify and continue.

The verification is valid for 60 minutes; during this time you will not be asked for a new code for the same actions. The code itself is valid for 5 minutes. Within an hour you can request a code up to 5 times and make up to 15 attempts.

If our SMS service has a temporary problem, the code cannot be sent and these actions are on hold; the page tells you so. You can try again a little later, or open a support ticket if it is urgent. If you changed your mobile number in the last 72 hours, these actions are held until that period ends, for your security.

If you have recently changed your mobile number, these actions are put on hold for a while for your security; the page shows how many hours remain. If you are in a hurry, you can open a support ticket. You can also open a support ticket if the number or e-mail address shown no longer belongs to you.

When removing the lock in bulk, you return to the domain list after verification; you will need to tick the domains again and repeat the action.

Renewal

You can extend your domain at any time before it expires; the new period is added on top of the remaining time, so you do not lose any days. There are two ways:

  • The Renew button on the domain page
  • The Domains > Renew a domain page: all your domains that can be renewed are sorted by the number of days left. You can choose the period and add a domain to the cart, or renew them all at once with Add all to cart. If a renewal receipt has already been created for a domain, the row shows Pay the receipt.

Expired domains

On an expired domain, the website and e-mail stop working, and the nameserver, lock and contact settings cannot be changed. The Check status button on the domain page tells you which stage the domain is in: whether it can still be renewed, is in the redemption period, is being deleted or has been released. During the late renewal and redemption periods, the domain can only be renewed for 1 year and an extra fee applies; the amount is shown separately on the renewal page. During the redemption period, you need to open a support ticket.

We send e-mails for domains that are about to expire. If you have turned on information SMS messages, you will also get an SMS when 7 days or less are left and when the domain expires.

New domains and transfers

Buying a domain

On the Domains > Buy a domain page, type the name you want and click Search. If it is available, you can add it to your cart with Add to Cart. In the next step you can choose the registration period, optional extra services and the nameservers.

Some .tr extensions (e.g. .av.tr, .dr.tr, .k12.tr, .bel.tr, .gov.tr) require documents. You can upload them from the Documents tab on the domain page; see Uploading .tr Domain Documents for details.

If a .tr name shown as available is on the restricted names list, the page says so and tells you that registration requires a document; if it is on the closed names list, the name cannot be registered and you can try another one.

Transfer from another provider

To move your domain to Verinomi:

  1. Remove the domain's transfer lock at your current provider.
  2. Get the transfer code (EPP / Auth code) from the same provider.
  3. On the Domains > Transfer a domain page, enter the domain and the transfer code, click Add to Cart and complete the order.
  4. A confirmation e-mail may be sent to the domain owner's e-mail address; approving it speeds up the transfer.

For extensions such as .com and .net a transfer extends your domain by one year; for .tr domains the term does not change (see Domain Transfer: Requirements and Steps). Since the nameservers do not change, your website keeps working. If you are logged in, you can use the Several domains tab to add up to 30 domains to your cart at once by writing one domain and its transfer code on each line.
